Roshni Public School is an educational charity set up by The Roshni Trust in Qayyumabad, Karachi. Since our humble beginnings in 2010 with a handful children and teachers, in a rented two-room space, we have grown with the help and support of our donors and volunteers. In just two years, we were able to construct our own school building with capacity of ten grades including a well equipped library, computer room, science labs and assembly hall to give a well rounded learning experience to our students by using latest methodologies and equipment. RPS has also recently acquired the Sindh Govt. secondary school board accreditation and in 2016, the first batch of RPS students will be appearing for 9th grade board exams.
Pakistan has an alarmingly high level of malnutrition; 24 percent of the population is undernourished. The rate of malnourishment in children is so high that it may soon have the highest number of stunted growth children due to severe malnourishment in the world. To eradicate poverty, we need to focus not just on eradicating illiteracy but also eradicating malnourishment. Since calcium is the buildling block of a healthy, nutrionally balanced meal, one glass of milk per day is our essential and our goal. A glass of milk might just cost Rs 25 per day and it will help these chlldren break free of the shackles of poverty
